There are a lot of ways to get HIV/AIDS and just as many ways to prevent it.
You can get HIV/AIDS by having unprotected sex with a partner who has the virus. You can also get HIV/AIDS by sharing needles to shoot drugs with someone who has the virus. You can’t tell by looking at someone whether or not he or she is HIV-positive, so...
• Before you get sexually involved with someone, ask them the tough questions and make sure you get straight, honest answers.
• Only have sex with one partner whom you know for sure does not have HIV/AIDS and does not have sex with anyone else.
• Do not have sex unless you and your partner use a latex condom with a spermicide. (Spermicide with nonoxynol-9 gives added protection.)
• Do not shoot drugs.

Know the warning signs of HIV/AIDS. HIV may live in a person’s body for years without showing any signs at all.
Some signs of the disease are • Rapid weight loss • Diarrhea • White spots in the mouth • Recurrent fevers • Chills • Loss of appetite • Severe fatigue • Swollen glands • Shortness of breath • Skin rashes • Unusual bumps on the skin and/or inside the mouth, nose or rectum.

Care enough for yourself to see a trained health care professional at Khaleidoscope Health Care for regular checkups! There’s only one real way to know if you have HIV/AIDS, and that’s by being tested for it. In this day and age, it’s just plain stupid to NOT know.
